  • The Haul - Christmas 2013

    Merry Christmas folks

So what fun gifts did you get? Anything shiny and made of metal/plastic/resin?

Enjoy yourselves and don't overdo it on the food/alcohol (too much)

Miniature related, I got the Warhammer 40,000 Dark Vengeance set, SCALE75's "The Drow", a pot of liquid green stuff and the set of Games Workshop's new effects paints.

Non miniature related, a rather posh looking corkscrew, a Victorinox knife, some socks, a gentleman's unsightly hair remover and a rather nasty cut on my thumb.
I'll be lucky to paint a single figure this year or any other. If I do manage it, no one will be more shocked than I.

On the mini front a strikeout! Luckily I have a credit card and all the proper passwords in place to let me go shopping as I see fit. On the other front I got a New Driver and 3-wood (from my boss! I had a good year!) and a bunch of booze amongst other stuff.

Nothing Hobby related for me either

some Star Wars lego, a lightsabre made of shiny wrapping paper and tin foil and a mk6 Iron Man bubblebath figure.

As to proper things - an Elgato capture HD, Alestorm's live CD/DVD, The Three Flavours Cornetto Trilogy on Blu Ray, The Wolverine, Looper, Expandables 2, The Doctor Who 50th Anniversary CD set, a new external hard drive, Ibrahimovic's autobiography and a couple of other books.

plus the usual selection of sweets, socks and smellies. Also, a hip flask and a bottle of Mango and Raspberry Cider.

I gots me a couple of computer games, some GW bits and bobs (pathfinders, horrors and a heldrake) and a Warlord Sherman V. Also a nifty set of WW2 DVDs from the un-laws which I wasn't expecting. Still more to come when I go up and see me mum next week.

Nothing hobby related... But, a couple of allotment books, a garden hand cultivator, some joke books, socks, a sweater, aftershave, James bond dvds, motorbike stuff and a rather evil little game called "Cards against humanity" which I will probably only ever play with my friends as it's rather sick and twisted!

Merry belated Christmas all! Hope you had a good one!

I got all sorts of stuff this year. Two French? Metal Soldiers in @35mm from way back that my friend saw on her trip to Singapore. Zombiecide, smash up games. Game of thrones first two seasons on bluray. A real life short sword that hasn't left my hand since Christmas Day. (Let me tell you how much more enjoyable it is to watch game of thrones with a sword in your hand that you can shieth and unshieth as the story strikes you. Also got a set of four little throwing knives with a sneaky little wrist holster right out of assassins creed. This has also been equipped for the majority of the time since receiving. My dad got me a really cool and thoughtful rock tumbler. I've kinda got into agates and cool rocks lately so it will be fun to tumble my finds and see how they look.

qulaitatively I had the week off and for the first time we didn't travel, so we just kicked back in our new home and relaxed, drank a lot, ate even more and slept in. All our friends enjoyed their gifts from us so that always makes it a success Christmas. I'm not even sure if I'll have anything to bring to my "bad Xmas present" white elephant exchange party on New Years
