Ok, what bonehead said that? You paint the way you paint. As long as the details get done who cares what order you paint them in? I just re-stripped my purple mini because I was trying to paint it by someone else's method. Went back to my own and she's coming along well now. Never let anyone tell you what to do when you paint. Take what they say and maybe add it but in your own way. Gits!

        Cheers guys.
I'm going to just enjoy this one, there's always time to learn stuff on other models :)

All you need to do is learn new techniques and experiment with them from time to time. Then you'll find what you like and what you don't. All they are is tools in the toolbox.

any comments on the buckle - I tried some NMM for the first time.
                    All C&C welcome :)

Probably the pic but the buckle looks really purple. I love the nails on the foot. I'v long struggled with how to paint greenskin nails but I'm gonna steal your color scheme!

Well I haven't finished them yet :) But it's white primer with yellow foundation very thin on top, then some bestial brown washed into the base of the nail.

The buckle was done with shadow grey, not sure why its looking purple.

I love that strap with the buckle. Looks like real leather that's cracked and worn. I don't think the buckle is bad. Maybe a bit purple-ish but it's looking tarnished. I think the surrounding colors may be changing the tone of the paint. Don't sweat it. You did a great job on it.

Do you have any chestnut ink? If so thin it WAY down and wash over the strap. It will look really like leather then. That's a tip Jeremie TB gave me in his class I took last year. He swears by chestnut ink.

The yellow diamond trim on the sleeve holes is a bit "clean". Just an observation. Love the red for the belt but it's a bit flat. A wash of something in the brownish range might work well. And the highlights on it could be brought up a bit more.

All in all it's wonderful and you're doing a top job on it. Well done!

Yeah, I've only done my first shadow wash on the patterned area - still needs more work. :)
I do have chestnut ink - so I'll give that a go. Thanks for the tip :)
There are some shadows on the belt, but I haven't added highlights properly yet - any ideas for the right way to go, I don't want it to end up pink?

Try (with your pallet) going a red-ish orange instead of a pink. Or hit it with a bone color then a VERY thin glaze of the base color over everything to get it back to red. I personally think in this case the orangish would do better but if you use that make sure to add just a bit of purple ink (thinned down and if you have it with a bit of anti-shine agent added) to the shadows so it stays red instead of looking rust.

Cheers, thanks. Orange and purple both in the palette :) I have put a little yellow on the highspots, but it doesn't show up yet, so I think the orange would probably work.

Do you think I should do the same to the red on the headscarf?
