Fancy new site for the contest: http://www.malifaux.com/RottenHarvest/

    Happy Halloween

With the Halloween and Harvest season right around the corner, it is once again time to kick things off with our most popular painting contest, The Rotten Harvest!
Round about the paint pot go. On the palette throw
    royal blue and blood red. Thirty-seven Days of Dread;
Double, double toil and trouble; Fire burn, and paint pot bubble.
The contest runs from September 25th through October 31st. Entries can be submitted at any time during the contest. Voting will occur from November 1st - 7th, done anonymously through the Wyrd forums. Also, during voting, anyone may leave comments and critiques, which previous entrants have appreciated. The winners will be announced soon after the voting ends, and Wyrd will send prizes to those winners, along with random prizes that we give away with every contest.
The specific rules for the contest can be found under Contest Rules and Info. Everyone should read the rules, because we want to avoid any misunderstanding of the contest, including the theme and disqualifying criteria.
Due to the sheer number of people that have entered unedited photographs in the past we will no longer do any editing for you. There are many free photo resizing programs out there. Wyrd staff will attempt to notify anyone who's pictures were deleted due to size or for any reason, but can not guarantee notification.
The categories for the contest are:

    • Witches and Warlocks Spellcasters of all sorts, from high fantasy, modern day dabbler to the far sci-fi future. If they carry a wand, cast a spell or even have a hint of mysticism to them, this is the category for them.
    • Not Quite Dead Yet Still stumbling around after all the major organ functions have shut down? Have a beef with the living? This category is for the Undead, or as they like to be called 'Living Impaired'.
    • Things that go Bump in the Night Creatures, critters, monsters and other things that have a tendency towards anti-social behavior and prowl the night looking for victims. Caution, here be Monsters!
    • The Trick or the Treat This is our catch-all category as there are some miniatures that are just right for the theme but just don't seem to fall into any other category. Zombie Hunters, pumpkin characters, and certainly several miniatures we never would have even contemplated.
    • The Harrowing Harvest A diorama with two or more miniatures locked in combat, or something as equally disturbing.

For those of you new to Wyrd contest this is BIG rule. Can't do WIP or post pictures anywhere until the contest is over.

The miniature cannot have been displayed in any form elsewhere on the internet or published mediums such as magazines. All contest entries will be displayed anonymously so as to give no one person an unfair advantage (this isn't a popularity contest) and thus there can be no signatures or watermarks upon them. No announcing on forums, webpage, blogs or any other type of medium about the type of miniature that you will be painting, nor concept sketches.

Think I'll enter this again fior the sheer fun, got an ideal mini. (N0, not a variation on the Bloodbowl Orc - I save those for IP)
"I lOVE your attitude Wag - painting for the hell of it, because you want to - one of the best things I did was invite you over here as to me you invoke the wamp spirit perfectly." - thankyou DL !

"...you've done things with Blood Bowl Orcs that I wouldn't have thought possible. Certainly wouldn't have thought they were sensible!..." - Lobo, Iron Painter 8 competition

          I actually disagree.
I will join, but i dont like the fact i cannot put any pics of my wip online. Part of the (great) experience of online competition is the feedback you receive while working and of course the friendly banter and trashtalk. Thats why i like wamp competitions so much!

I think keeping it blind in the comp is a good way at least in 1 particular way! some people do see the awesome works the top painters do and possibly think they dont have a chance? not us wampers mind as we do it for the fun and banter but some people could see it that way and not enter! keeping it blind right up until entry day could eliminate this? what do ya think?

but I agree on the WIP situation we do have that luxury on WAMP and its always good for crit and direction!! so to not have that is a bit poo!!

Oh Ive had an Idea!!! PM on the way lol

Anonymity is crucial in competitions where there are actual prizes on the line...and the voting is done publicly. The reality of it is that some painters develop reputations, and those reputations can influence the voting, whether good or bad. Minimizing that as much as possible will create the most fair scenario for a competition.

We'll see how it all works out, last time the galleries weren't set up to drop photos into categories and it became too much work and it wasn't anonymous in the end.

The contest looks great fun and conjurs all sorts of wierd ideas. Realistically for someone as disorganised as me the and with the time allocated I will be lucky to get one past the finishing line. Now which first - pumkin or wizard? I totally agree it sucks to not have a WIP option.
