Wamp Review Seamus Avatar Wyrd Miniatures

Wyrd’s latest book release “Twisting Fates” for the Malifaux skirmish game introduces Avatars. Avatars are the manifestations of your crew’s leader. (Aka: the big and bad version of them once they open the can of whoop-ass.) Today I’m checking out Seamus, Avatar of dread.

He stands 38mm to the eye and 50mm to the top of his hat and comes with a 50mm gaming base. Three pieces: Body, Right hand, Monocle. The right hand fits on nicely and is cast in metal as is the monocle. The main bo...

Redbox Games 2011 - The Results

Well the last contest of an action packed 2011 has come to a close and another cracker it has been. Once again Redbox miniatures have been painted within an inch of their lives to create some stunning entries. Redbox sculpts are fantastic for painters and the results in the gallery are obvious. However not all these glorious vestiges to the painting gods could win the bounty of prizes and so it was decided a fight to the death would select the winners. After legal advice we opted instead to use voting to settle things and man has it been a tight vote. Just 4 votes were the difference between top spot and the unlucky person missing out in 4th place!! Still winners we now have and it gives me great pleasure to announce that the winner of The Redbox Games 2011 Painting Contest is...................... ...

    Merry Christmas from Wamp

I just wanted to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. Wamp has developed so much in 2011 and that is all down to one thing: You guys! It is you all that make this place such a welcoming, warm and friendly place to be. I truly believe it is the friendliest miniature site on the web and that's a testament to the good natured and helpful people that call it home. It has been a tough year personally and I know it has been for many of you as well but visiting here and been amongst ...

    Changes to the gallery

As some of you may know the new gallery system is now up and running
successfully. It is filling up nicely with images of beautifully painted
miniatures. This does lead to a change regarding the old gallery. The
previous system will eventually be phased out over time which includes the
deleting of pictures from that system.
The old system will remain open for use until the end of ...

    Speed Painting to Tabletop/Display Standard

I hope some of you will find this useful. I don't claim to be a Golden Demon painter by any means, but I can go from bare lead to a finished paintjob in 3 hours to what I think is good tabletop standard. I chose Oakley as he's my favourite sculpt and he's nice and gritty so suits my approach to painting (IMO!) ...

  • The Hotseat: Demented Games
    by Darklord

In this Hotseat we sit down and chat with thee guys from Demented Games, the Australian company behind the wonderful Twisted game.

Seb, Its almost 11 years to the day we sat you down in the hotseat. Back then there was no Guild of Harmony or Twisted. So how did things pan out in that time to bring you to where you are now? (Read Sebs original interview here: Seb Archer )

(Seb) Wow 11 years - yes, things have certainly changed a lot in that time! Last time...

  • Warploque Miniatures – A comparison between cast and printed miniatures.
    by Brambleten
Anyone that has received a resin miniature from Warploque Miniatures will know, from the title, that this is a very unfair comparison to put together. There are two casters that I would recommend above all others in the UK – BrokenToad, and Rob Huntley of Warploque Miniatures - I've never had a bad or mediocre cast from either. Nevertheless, I got my hands on my first 3D printed miniatures recently and as they’re from Warploque via their Digital Workshop, it’s a comparison I’m going to make....

  • Review: She-Hulk for Marvel: Crisis Protocol from Atomic Mass Games
    by Brambleten
Welcome to this review of She-Hulk from Atomic Mass Games! It is my first review for a while (or at least my first review longer than an Instagram snippet) so I'm a little rusty and may well get carried away and ramble in places – apologies in advance.

At the time of writing, She-Hulk is the latest release from Atomic Mass Games for their Marvel: Crisis Protocol tabletop skirmish game. The great thing about The Crisis Protocol kits is that they’re all uniformly...

  • Review: Solomon Kane
    by Darklord
Introduction FeR miniatures is becoming one of the go-to sites for larger scale miniatures in recent times, developing a reputation for producing stunning busts and figures, and collaborating with sculptors such as Raffaele Picca and David Zabrocki. It is run by the equally talented painter Fernando Ruiz, who in fact painted the box art for the kit we're looking at here. Chances are that if you've seen a historical figure/bust on Facebook or Putty & Paint over the last 12 months, it's from this ...

  • Taking on the Dark Arts
    by Darklord
Dark Art Studios turns 12 at the end of the year we manage to catch a few words with Byron about the new Vengeance Miniatures range and the new Table Top game from Dark Art – Arena of Doom.

Hey Byron, please tell us about Vengeance Miniatures?

The new miniature range is 35mm heroic scale and will be made using traditional techniques out of an alloy metal which is our own formula.

How did the name come about? Vengeance Miniatures ...

  • Coming Clean: Colours of Battle Paints
    by Cregan Tur
Sometimes reviews are just hard to write. Often it’s because what you’re reviewing is hard to define within the scope you’re used to working in; it’s something new, a deviation. But what could be more straight forward than reviewing paints? I’ve done it before, after all. So why was a review so difficult to write? Part of the reason is that, as far as my research has shown, these paints are manufactured by the same company that makes Privateer Press’ P3 line of paints. They’re even in the same...
