  • WAMP Review: Dark Sword’s Cersi Lannister

WAMP Review: Dark Sword’s Cersi Lannister

We have all seen the fantastic painted versions of Dark Sword Miniatures, Cersi Lannister but how does the miniature stand up? The WAMP review team cast their critical eyes over it.

Cregan Tur I guess it would be wrong to slam this miniature simply because it’s of a Lannister; Cersei, the worst of them all to be precise, but that would not give any accurate information on the miniature itself. So put your swords down and feelings aside, my fellow Stark supporters, and indulge me in...

  • Step by step tutorial NMM by MaGie

Step by step tutorial NMM by MaGie

Hi everyone, In this step by step, I want to show you how I usually paint steel NMM. I've tried making a picture in between each step, but sometimes hardly anything can be seen on a picture, so those pics are left out. For this tutorial I painted the halberd staff of the high elf lord Caradryan. Before I start working with paint, I like to make a simple sketch in which I block in the shades. After drawing the sketch I slightly squish my eyes and look if the shading/highlighting could look rea...

  • How to work with high-density polystyrene

How to work with high-density polystyrene

This month, those nice folks at Manorhouse Workshop show us how to use High Density Polystyrene, either for making gaming terrain or scenery that helps us better show off our painted miniatures better. Hi everyone, This month I want to illustrate you the possibilities of the high-density polystyrene and how to work with it. This material is widely used in the building and delivery sectors and for us, modellers, it opens a wide range of possibilities to realize whatever we wish at a very af...

  • Making and Using a Wet Palette

Making and Using a Wet Palette

Hi I wrote this piece for a local (Aussie) wargamer forum, with some definitions for clarity from the painting wiki, most of you know much of this already but for those that haven't tried it give it a look it might help you out and provide a new approach to your painting. Thanks for looking. What is a palette? Well it is usually defined as a small surface used by an artist to mix and dilute paints, that seems a simple a enough description and suits us fine as figure painters too. Palettes ...

    A New Moderator

As you know I have been on the look out for a replacement for Martyn to join the moderator team. It gives me great pleasure to announce that LOBO has been appointed Moderator on Wamp. He joins the existing team to help supplement their work and he will primarily focus on building up the news section but will also be present for all other site moderation tasks too. So a personal 'welcome' from me and I wish to also thank everyone that applied for the position, there were a lot of applicants and...

  • The Hotseat: Demented Games
    by Darklord

In this Hotseat we sit down and chat with thee guys from Demented Games, the Australian company behind the wonderful Twisted game.

Seb, Its almost 11 years to the day we sat you down in the hotseat. Back then there was no Guild of Harmony or Twisted. So how did things pan out in that time to bring you to where you are now? (Read Sebs original interview here: Seb Archer )

(Seb) Wow 11 years - yes, things have certainly changed a lot in that time! Last time...

  • Warploque Miniatures – A comparison between cast and printed miniatures.
    by Brambleten
Anyone that has received a resin miniature from Warploque Miniatures will know, from the title, that this is a very unfair comparison to put together. There are two casters that I would recommend above all others in the UK – BrokenToad, and Rob Huntley of Warploque Miniatures - I've never had a bad or mediocre cast from either. Nevertheless, I got my hands on my first 3D printed miniatures recently and as they’re from Warploque via their Digital Workshop, it’s a comparison I’m going to make....

  • Review: She-Hulk for Marvel: Crisis Protocol from Atomic Mass Games
    by Brambleten
Welcome to this review of She-Hulk from Atomic Mass Games! It is my first review for a while (or at least my first review longer than an Instagram snippet) so I'm a little rusty and may well get carried away and ramble in places – apologies in advance.

At the time of writing, She-Hulk is the latest release from Atomic Mass Games for their Marvel: Crisis Protocol tabletop skirmish game. The great thing about The Crisis Protocol kits is that they’re all uniformly...

Introduction FeR miniatures is becoming one of the go-to sites for larger scale miniatures in recent times, developing a reputation for producing stunning busts and figures, and collaborating with sculptors such as Raffaele Picca and David Zabrocki. It is run by the equally talented painter Fernando Ruiz, who in fact painted the box art for the kit we're looking at here. Chances are that if you've seen a historical figure/bust on Facebook or Putty & Paint over the last 12 months, it's from this ...

  • Taking on the Dark Arts
    by Darklord
Dark Art Studios turns 12 at the end of the year we manage to catch a few words with Byron about the new Vengeance Miniatures range and the new Table Top game from Dark Art – Arena of Doom.

Hey Byron, please tell us about Vengeance Miniatures?

The new miniature range is 35mm heroic scale and will be made using traditional techniques out of an alloy metal which is our own formula.

How did the name come about? Vengeance Miniatures ...

  • Coming Clean: Colours of Battle Paints
    by Cregan Tur
Sometimes reviews are just hard to write. Often it’s because what you’re reviewing is hard to define within the scope you’re used to working in; it’s something new, a deviation. But what could be more straight forward than reviewing paints? I’ve done it before, after all. So why was a review so difficult to write? Part of the reason is that, as far as my research has shown, these paints are manufactured by the same company that makes Privateer Press’ P3 line of paints. They’re even in the same...
