As I don't have UHU glue (yet) I had to improvise my blood strings. This is what I did:
I used really thin fishing line to create the structure for the blood strings by glueing it in place.
For the blood, I took some Water Effects and mixed it with some old GW red ink, Blood Red paint (to thickent he ink and modulate the color a little bit) and then I swirled in some Scorched Brown- What I mean is that I mixed in the color but deliberately left in swirls of the different colors. I used a straight pin to apply the blood mix to the fishing line, and wherever else I wanted the blood. Having the colors only partially mixed creates the different tones you see.
Once the blood had dried in place, I came back and touched the areas I wanted darker with a very dillute mix of black ink, and then washed everything with Chestnut ink to make the blood look like it's congealing by giving it a brownish tint.

I'll find out at the beginning of next week. They decided to do something different with the judging this time. They're displaying the pieces at the store for a week and everyone who purchases something gets a ticket. They write the # of the miniature they like best on the ticket and the person with the most points wins.
Mine is definately 1 of the top 3 entries- looking forward to seeing the results.

I'm disappointed to say that I came in 3rd. The 2 that were ahead of me used brighter colors and were much flashier than my dirty ork, so that drew the eye of the customers. Ironicly, the winner had his mini on a wooden base I sold him.

Ryan Dancey, Vice President of Wizards of the Coast, believed that TSR failed because of "...a near total inability to listen to its customers, hear what they were saying, and make changes to make those customers happy."
