Coventry is famous for it's scum. It's also has something to do with cars, Lady Godiva and Frank Whittle apparently. It also had seven shades of ****e bombed out of it by the Luftwaffe.

Sheffield, where I'm from, is famous for Sheffield Wednesday  and steel and the Crucible and Michael Palin and Sean Bean and Meadowhell shopping centre and for being much better than Chesterfield.

I used to live in a village called Dore which is now a suburb of Sheffield. It's famous for a battle between the two biggest Saxon kingdoms. The Dore stone reads:

KING EGGBERT OF WESSEX/ LED HIS ARMY TO DORE/ IN THE YEAR A.D. 829/ AGAINST KING EANRED/ OF NORTHUMBRIA/ BY WHOSE SUBMISSION/ KING EGGBERT/ BECAME FIRST/ OVERLORD/ OF ALL/ ENGLAND

    Northampton:
Shoe industry - in the past
    Cosworth - racing car engines
    Avon cosmetics
    Barclaycard HQ
... and parliament used to be held here in Northampton Castle. The castle's been ruined, bit like parliament really.

    As for Chesterfield -
crooked spire, Royal Oak pub, burial place of George Stephenson

hey, stop dissin' ma hood, reet! Innit!

Anyway, Waghorn beat me to what my town's famous for. There's also revolution House, where a group of conspirators, err, conspired against King Charles I. What I want to know is why was nobody paying attention to a place called Revoultion House? It could have saved ol' Charlie his head.

Well at the time the peasants were revolting, and probably revolving as in going round in circles.
