Land of Ilendale - In Game

This will be the thread for all IN GAME posts. Anything posted in here is said or done. So please be aware of your actions here.

I also am going to put the history of my world up as you guys get your characters together.

A Brief History: The year was 3930. You where all once part of your original tribes back in the old land call Kothol. Most of you lived in a valley called Gods’ Cradle. The area was encircled by mountains that formed around a fertile fields and green forests. The valley was so extensive that one would have to walk 3 days walk from one side to the other side by road. The mountains where jagged and treacherous and made a natural wall. The only exists out of the valley were 3 narrow paths though the mountains. These were controlled by 3 Princes of the good King George. Algen, Crese and Multech. Each one controlled the valley with the same fairness as their father. King George (or George the Fornicator) was considered the fairest of all time and was considered almost godlike for everyone that lived in Gods Cradle. He had 75 children with 20 wives. It was almost unnatural how each of them was so devoted to him. Because of this, each held the top positions of the governing the populous. They met to settle their differences without blood shed and with limited hard feelings. This lasted for as long as anyone could remember before the plague came.

The plague was thought it was brought on by the livestock that lived on the marshlands. But others thought it was brought on by imps from beyond the mountains. In either case it was bad. It rendered the inflicted person with high fever and terrible cramping in the limbs. In the old and the young it was death sentence usually ending in all the muscles in the body becoming a tightened seizing all movement. King George shut off communication between villages to try and stop the plague from spreading. But it rolled on through the valley. Even the royal family was not spared. King George too was inflicted shortly after the borders were closed. The local healers were powerless to find a cure for the illness. Then one of the king’s sons, Elgin, a sorcerer, was able to find a mix of herbs and crab shell. This ended the king’s fever and appeared to curb his illness. The cure was distributed to the royal family. The word came out about the cure and was then distributed to the population. People rejoiced.

A year past and there was a change in the king was seen. It was very gradual at first but it was clear that the king had become more distant and thoughts became disjointed. He would decree festivals be had but he would not show to any. Beast of Burden day was one day that no one could use their animals for anything other then play. As his proclamations be came more ridiculous his family started to hide him from the public. This lasted until the drought of the following year.

When the drought hit the king was at a all time low. He decreed a festival once again but the turn out was low. It appeared that no one was up for another festival. The king’s army was called out. And people were being gathered up and placed into the dungeon. Calls came from all points of the valley to free the prisoners. The king started to justify the cause of imprisonment. Each one was then branded on there for heads “MURDER”, “THIEF”, “PIE STEALER” or other such falsehood and then released. The population then started to leave the Valley. Brute gangs were formed and started policing villages. Nothing negative was to be said of the King or the royal family. If one was accused of such a crime the gang would dispense justice as they saw fit.

As the population thinned either by starvation, the remnants of the plague or the Brutes, people were stating to call the valley “Gods’ Tomb”. Once this got back to King George, he once again started gathering up people. But this time it was remarkably different. The people were allowed time to pack together their belongings. Once items where gathered they were placed on wagon trains, surrounded by armed cavalry they were escorted through the passage ways through the mountains. People that resisted leaving their homes were put to the sword.

Once outside the valley the refugees where sent on there way and told to never return. For most, this is what they wanted. Others resisted and then executed. But once on the other side of the mountains the refuges were found not to be welcome anywhere. The word of the plague had spread outside Gods’ Cradle. Any family or any others that have had any contact with plague where placed on boats and exiled from Kothol to the Jonah colonies.

    Landing in the new world:

The ships sailed westward into the Blue Sea. After several storms and a months travel, the fleet of ships came across the one of the colonies. It was in poor shape and many of the inhabitants have died since coming to the area. For most it was seeing what they had just left. The ships however brought with it something that the colonist didn’t have – craftsman. Homes where built and the quality of life increased. A man name Baracus was a sorcerer quickly became a town leader. Quickly delegating work to the proper people to support the village. He knew that if this village was to survive he would need everyone to pull there own weight for the winter was coming fast. Using his arcane powers he was able to transform the rocky shore to more hospitable location. He was able to transform rock into any shape he so chose. A few months the once small thorp became a bustling village. More exiles came but with the new influx of people came bronze traders. Badly needed bronze was needed to make tools for everyday items. Baracus was able to convince the traders to bring back other goods to the village.

    Friends ands and Enemies

Humans for the most part control the coast line. Orcs are the primary threat right now. They hold most of the land north and northeast of the colonies. Most are considered dumb and viscous. Some though seem to be developing the land like a farmer. There are 2 separate primitive tribes however. Contact with them has not been met with hostility but has been limited. Most of the communication with them has been in a form of sign language. People in the northern most village have learned some of there signs. It is clear that all 3 are fighting each other.

To the east is the Brimble forest. It has been said that there are elves in there and Baracus had spoken to them to help fight the orcs. This was all speculation. Beyond that is the Razor Grass plane. Long grass grows there and it said that it was once a sea that had dried up. >Land Map to follow soon<

There has been 100 years since the first landing. The Village of Shale is now well underway but the knowledge beyond the areas above are not widely known.

It is early summer but you would never would know it from the weather. You are at the White Pony Inn grabbing a bite to eat.. The air is thick with the smell of the evening meal. It is hot, humid and the bugs must of hatched early this year. The bar area is crowded but you managed to find your usual seat in the back near the small stage where a bard plays now and then. The table is well worn and the legs are uneven so your group has always claimed this spot. You are familiar with just about everyone here but there are a few people that have come in recently from parts elsewhere. Everyone is having a good time and for the most part keeping to themselves.

I order another round and ask the beer wench:
"How's it looking tonight gorgeous? anyone been causin a rawkus or looking at you as dirty as I do. Cuz you know I'll kill em. And when are you gonna get some real muzik in this place? If I have to listen to this guy sing this song about 'gods cradle' again, I may just have to stuff that lute up his gods cradle."

"Better than listening to you sing, again, Pete" I reply with a grin. "I need a lot more beer before I can stand that again!"

Katri (the beer wench) gives a grin and starts to wipe the table with a beer stained rag. "No, pretty good night so far. Besides from the looks of everyone her tonight they are more interested in looking for their next mug rather then the next fist. As for the music, the guy that normally sings lost his lute in a card game. Hes an idiot. Music won't be around for while unless you want to take up a fife. She giggles as she stands up "Anyways I will make sure you get the next round from the new keg just because you are looking out for my safety." She winks and heads off into the crowd. Guys are clearly gawking as she walks past.

As you settle in you see a mutual friend of yours approach the table with his favorite metal beer mug in his hand. C'nut is a personable fellow and is well liked from everyone. His main specialty is that he is well connected and can get things that normally couldn't be found. Favors for favors is his motto. One would think that he would be a great merchant but if it wasn't for his face and god awe-full brown teeth which makes him hard to look at for long periods of time. The thing about it is that he is very aware of his looks and makes light of it.

"Evening gents!" He sits down at the table. Everyone instinctively lifts their beer as the table wobbles. "How's the winds meeting with you this fine night? I been talking with this guy just off the boat. You know one of those weird sorcery types. He is looking for someone to do an easy day job for him. I thought of you guys. Would you be interested in meeting with him?"

C'nut leans forward to hear you over the dull roar of everyone talking in the bar. His breath stinks. "I have not spoken to him about coin but it seems like it would be quick and easy. Looks like just a simple escort type of thing. But for what ever reason he only wants to talk to the guys that are going. I may have over did the softening up because he is getting a bit belligerent about the info."

What you all know: Sorcerers for the most part are reclusive. They take in students that they consider worthy and have them preform "learning tasks" in exchange for their time and workspace in learning the craft. Some of them are also alchemists that do brew up potions.

They can be hired to preform magical services at a very high cost. These can be anything from identifying items to creating magic items for you.
