    that's great news! Good luck!

Physical therapy was good yesterday. Therapist said no swimming or any cardio for now, although walking in the pool is authorized, so that's all I'm allowed for now.

that sucks, thought swimming would be ok they let anyone do that!

weighed in the same as last week but I have lost weight its just been replaced with muscle as can see I am leaner. Into my most intensive period now upping the RPM classes to two a week now (the local fitness centre is supporting my event so I get them free)

Must admit its all a bit draining, mentally as much as physically but with only a couple of weeks to go the end is in sight. Im keen to get on with the challenge itself even though I know it will be hellish at the time!

I'm going to a new physcial therapy place tomorrow, mainly because they have evening appointments so I won't have to take a whole day of vacation time for a one hour appointment. I'm not really sold on the new place, but we'll see. I'm going to finish the current round of physical therapy and do my follow up appointment with the doctor and then see where it goes from there.

Good luck on your preperations for the upcoming race! You've slimmed down a lot and look great from the last pics I saw on FB. Don't beat yourself up over a few pounds here and there.

    Hope you get sorted VC.

Weighed in this morning with a 3lb drop, puts me at my lightest since November but with the muscle gain I am in better shape.
Did just over 142 miles last week plus a couple of RPM classes. In fact yesterday did an RPM class then went out in the afteroon and did 45 miles on the mtb including some 17-20% climbs. Legs were aching but still had some in the tank so that was a good sign.
I am now tapering down in my final 10 days. Will do my usual 30m tonight, RPM on Tuesday then going to head up to the trails at Dalby on Wednesday. Only doing a single lap (though it is 23 miles long!). Will be aiming for a sub 2hr, did 2hr 6 mins last week (but as part of a double lap) and I will be going packless this time so I am hoping losing about 3 stone off my back will speed things up!!

Started looking at the weather forecast for the event. For the next week its pretty much raining non-stop which isnt good. If its dry on the day that will help but a drier trail would be much easier. Main thing is the prevailing wind statys in place. Dont fancy 96 miles into a head wind!

Final race of the year done. A tough one up in the Scottish Hills. Was only 52 miles though was planned to be 67m but due to really bad ground coniditions they had to adjust. was barely above freezing so couldnt feel my toes throughout the 4+ hours of riding. Despite that the sun was shining and it was a glorious vista in the middle of nowhere (Galloway area is a certified dark skies place). Mud was really thick in places sometimes over 10" deep and tough to ride through and so the pace was slower than last year.
However I did come 23rd out of 244 riders so I am happy with that especially considering my lack of fitness at the moment.
No more races until February now (a 50 mile one at night off road over the moors!) so Ill have a rest now and just do some casual riding until Xmas then come back to training proper after that. My fitness levels are certainly higher in general this year than last so I hope I can push on more next year. Its been a long year of riding, 10 months of training plus 8 big events. I never thought this time last year I would be able to ride 123 miles off road at once or do a 16+ hour ride solo but I did and I love pushing my boundries. Body may be aging but the mind keep rolling along!!

New Year, so it's time to get a sweat on.

Put on over a stone but more alarmingly 6" on my waist since before Christmas.
Back on it from today though. No more booze or bad food and I begin my training for this year. First event next month starting with 50 miles off road over the moors at night!
Will go easier this first week with a couple of rides, some off the bike work, bungee jumping, sky diving and abseiling for good measure.

weighed in this morning. Was only my first week back on things so just a couple of rides of around 22 miles each, just going easy until I get my baseline sorted. Ended up having a takeaway sat and a couple of bottles of wine this week too but still managed to drop 5 1/2lbs off which I am pretty happy with (probably that bungee jump at the weekend loosened some off!!).

Finding it really tough at the mo. Mum in hospital still and getting evicted on top of a big work project thats causing hassle means my depression is really bad at the mo so the temptation to just pig out and not ride is strong but one day at a time and I wont weep if I do have the odd treat

6" - wow! I gained over the holidays as well.

I'm down 35 pounds over the last 2 years. It really started becoming obvious middle of this year when I switched out of my XL Tall clothes and started wearing L clothes... yay.

Depression is very hard. I have long struggles with it and anxiety. Your mom in hospital doesn't help. You evicted or your mom evicted? Holy cow on either. Very sad for you.

    ...

With the diabetes diagnosis last May and a ton of work on rebuilding how I eat... my big thing now is to get consistent on exercising. Nothing makes diabetes better than exercise (aside from not eating sugar that is). Thankfully I have a gym at work I can pop into for 10 minutes at a time. My wife just bought a rowing machine for our basement - and I do like that exercise so I plan to work on that at home as well.

well its just over a month until my boggest ride of the year. I did Dirty Reiver last year and its a toughie. 125 miles off road climbing the equivilent of a third of the way up everest in one go. Took me 11 hours and 2 minutes last year but Im so behind with training this year.
Ill and really bad wetaher last week hampered me attempting to get going again but I did at least lose 4 1/4 lbs. Got out today though for a 30 mile ride in 20mph+ winds. Also started a press up challenge, dumbell work and planks (its suprising how knackering it is on your arms!)

This time last year I was already doing 100 mile training rides so Im not going to be anywhere near last years I dont think but Ill give it a go!

I feel your pain Darklord, I have struggled with my weight ever since giving up sport and have tried many time to get fit. In the end I came to the conclusion that if I am healty and happy then a little extra weight is OK. I like you find if I feel blue my hand reaches for food. All I can say is try a little yoga is an easy exersise does not impact the joints and helps your mental state as well as physical.
