Keeping busy
by Boris on 31-01-2011 at 10:19 PM
With work tiring me out, I was wondering when I'd find time to get much painting done - and to be honest I haven't, but I have done a lot of prep work.
I've started painting two models for a tabletop painting tutorial for the next issue of Irregular. This will sit back to back with an advanced tutorial by another writer (*cough, WAMPER, cough*) with the same two models. The theme is Alien Skin, and after a very quick Twitter poll, I'm painting them orange. The not so fun part is taking
Changes afoot
by Boris on 15-01-2011 at 06:48 PM
It's a new year, and I thought it was time to take stock before moving ahead.
I want to have goals for this year, but I'm not 100% clear on what they should be other than vagaries like "improve" - you know I like to be more focused than that ;)
So to help me define my goals I set up a thread called Peer Assessment asking other WAMPers to feed back on my strengths and weaknesses as a painter. Yes, it's a likely scary allowing people to have free reign on commenting,
On being a ghostbuster
by Boris on 14-11-2010 at 06:45 PM
Yesterday I got a new job as a ghostbuster, well for an hour or so anyway.
It was Indie Role Play day at Patriot Games, our local hobby store and I went down out of curiosity - OK, Jay wanted to go more than me, but I was happy enough to tag along.
I got roped into joining in a game that had already started, it was called Inspectres, and is based on the idea of running a ghostbusters-esque franchise. Our location was obviously, Sheffield! The team already consisted of a financial
Getting organised
by Boris on 06-11-2010 at 07:53 PM
I've not been very organised about my painting for sometime now, but that's going to change.
I'm going to not open the laptop when I get home to avoid getting sucked in to checking my mail, and WAMP. Instead I'm going to paint, at least 2 nights a week I think, Monday's and Tuesdays. Weds is for gaming, Thursday is for the internet and Friday is for hanging out with Jay and watching a movie.
On my internet day I'm going to be more organised about my online time too. I'm planning
Staying on the wagon
by Boris on 03-09-2010 at 11:09 PM
It's been 11 months since I bought a mini for myself - and to be fair, the only ones I have bought were for Jay and my brother for Christmas last year, and our anniversary.
In October it will be a full year without being tempted at Salute, Triples, FigureWorld, Euro* or GamesDay*, as well as local stores, or online sales.
*Future events
I tried this before (Oct 2008 - 2009) but that time around I had a caveat, I could buy minis if they were to be used
