New Brushes!

I recently received some new brushes I ordered from Blick Art Supplies. I ordered with a friend who was buying some high-end colored pencils, so we split the shipping cost. I bought four brushes. I probably only need two or three, but I was ordering a new brand I'd never tried before, and wasn't sure of their sizing, so I wanted to have my bases covered.

Here's what I got:

Da Vinci Maestro Kolinsky "Miniaturist", number 2 and 0
Winsor & Newton Series 7 Kolinksy Sable, number 0 and 3/0

I've only tried out the Da Vinci #2 so far, and it's fantastic! I think this will be my go-to brush for most projects, with the others being reserved for finer details, like eyes, and freehand.

I learned about the Da Vinci Maestro "Miniaturist" brushes from Jen Haley, who lists the #3 on her website as her favorite miniature painting tool.

Both good brands, hope you enjoy them. How does the 'Miniaturist' range compare with other ranges for size and shape? say the 'miniaturist' size 0 with the series 7 size 0.

The Da Vinci 0 is in between the W&N 0 and the W&N 3/0. The Da Vinci's are chunkier. They hold more paint, but they're a little harder to control - takes some getting used to.

I thought Jen used the DaVinci Restauro? I'll have to look at that miniaturist...i prefer shorter bristle lengths compared to say the Raphaels
