  1. NCMSS Show

This past Saturday (Sept 8) I participated in the NCMSS Show here in Washington DC. I entered 7 miniatures into the competition and received a bronze for my Thief of Hearts, which was pretty neat considering I had painted her to attempt and get a prize at the APG show, this past Summer. Robert E. Lee came away with another honorary mention. I'm happy. Special congrats go to WAMP's MamaGeek (Joy Schoenberger), Shades (Mike) and Jim (who I just met at the show!) for the rewards you guys got.

  2. Freebooter Mermaid : Finished!!

I was able to finish the mermaid in time before my parents returned home this past Monday. I ended up working very late into the night on the blends and everything to get her as perfect as I could. Here she is!

I glued some tiny seashells along the bottom of the base and also put two tiny ones on the top, with the mermaid.. kinda giving the effect of having some of her "sea friends" with ...
  3. Freebooter Mermaid: WIP 1

So, I started the mermaid last night and ended up stripping her tonight and restarting. I really liked the eyes and her skin, until I put on a flesh wash... and then everything just went kablooie. I'm not sure what it was, whether or not the wash went "bad" (I've had it for a few years, now), but it just made her completely brown.

Mainly a wash like that is meant to bring out the details more by filling in the little nooks and crannies on the miniature (i.e. the spaces ...
  4. Old Wizard WIP 2

Tonight I got a good bit more finished on him as I will be having surgery, again, tomorrow (Thursday) to release my left Carpal Tunnel. Being that this is a ladder challenge that's due next Saturday night, I wanna make sure he's finished in time.

Tonight I added the green to his tunic and really like how it's pairing up with the dark gray/brown of the tunic itself. My photography doesn't cut it, though, as it's hard to see the highlights on ...
  5. Another WAMP Ladder Challenge : Tim's OLD Miniatures...

So, after finishing up "Big Doc", I haven't had really anything that I needed to paint. This, is exhilarating. It's been a long while since I painted something for me. So, what do I pick?? Some of Tim's OLD (I'm talking 70s/80s here..) miniatures to paint as presents for HIM. Yeah, I know, still not painting something utterly for me, but, it's a special thing for Tim.. and I can't show him enough how much I love him (insert "awwww" here).
