WAMP monthly comp: August

The people have spoken and the theme for this month is: The Movies.

A good broad theme in my view..could be almost anything so you can run mad. Any scale, any size, any models you like.

The comp will run from 10th August 2011 to midnight on Saturday 10th September.

And what of the prizes I hear you ask?

Well to the lucky winner shall go these treasures

1 Anima Tactics mini Adolf Brunner
1 Dark sword mini: Female Bard
1 Base (wood)
Some basey sticks for..er doing something stick like with.

Pictures of the prizes;

Good luck all, I hope lots of people feel tempted to enter. Remember you can combine with another comp if you want to!

Really excited about this theme. There's something I've been thinking about making for a while now, this will be a great opportunity :) I do hope I manage to squeeze it in!
Good luck with running your first monthly CS!

I've got lots of busts from Figureworld that would be perfect for this as Sprout well knows...

Hopefully I'll have time after doing mum's prezzie.

Hopefullly I can get something in here. Good theme! Though I voted for monochrome... next time!!

Well if Radom's joining in I'll have to make a special effort.

Bring it on butcher boy!

I'll be passing on this one, CS - got enough to paint this month as it is, and don't think I've really got anything in that could be re-purposed for a movie theme.

I am looking forwards to seeing what everyone else comes up with, and will be sure to vote, though. Out of interest, will the challenges for future months be coming from the same pool of options, or will there be a new poll?

Voting can also mean prizes so that's also good!

There will be a random pool of options every monthly, drawn from the big list in the suggestions thread (so people can keep adding to it) and randomly selected by a little randomiser in Excel.

I might put the second place one back in each time though if its a close run thing.

I have not been around for Awhile. Bought a house and been moving in and remodeling some stuff. I just may have to do something up for this if I can get to all my materials.

I was really hoping to participate this month, but I am drawing an absolute a total blank on what to paint....

Still time to think of something..remember the movies is a pretty big theme, a film has been made of just about everything.

Just had one of my twisted genius ideas but not sure if I've got time though it is very simple to do...

Not too long to go indeed..remember the lovely prizes and fun.

30-08-2011, 11:36 PM
Cripes. If there's a half chance of me getting one of my 30mm knight models painted up for this amidst Games Day stuff, I'll see if I can squeeze it in!

Go for it! The comp needs a spark (see what I did there).

31-08-2011, 09:27 AM
My entry is coming along nicely and it's as twisted as you'd expect

07-09-2011, 09:06 AM
This is coming closer and closer. I didn't manage to start my entry yet, so the original idea is definitely scratched. Maybe I'll have my go at speedpainting for the first time, and see if I can get something together just because I really like the idea of this monthly comp :)

@Sprout: I forget if this applies to monthlies or not... do subscribers get the 3 day extension?

Captain Sprout
07-09-2011, 11:08 PM
I don't think I covered it so lets say yes!

09-09-2011, 11:44 AM
My entry is finished but where to upload it?
I still must make photos of it first :02:

10-09-2011, 12:28 AM
So I just uploaded my work for The movies to WAMP Monthly gallery

10-09-2011, 06:08 PM
Managed a base... and some basecoats. Unlikely to get him finished but the three day extension would be a godsend!

10-09-2011, 10:43 PM
Well with the clock ticking rapidly and no proper gallery for this comp I've just uploaded it into the general monthly gallery. No apologies for the content  - well I've run out of Bloodbowl Orcs !

Sorry I am on leave this week and have not created a proper gallery as yet but will do so shortly. Supporters do have the extension  Thanks.

11-09-2011, 01:05 AM
gallery created, and spellscape's & waghorn's photos moved to the new gallery. :)

11-09-2011, 06:19 PM
Fewww I made it. My entry is in the gallery. I kind of like this speed (well for me at least) painting. Never finished a mini in one day before, it feels so productive :)

Running on Spencer-time has kinda messed with my internal calendar. What day does this here compo finish?

11-09-2011, 07:15 PM
For supporters, until midnight (UK time) Tuesday, Sept 13th. Non-supporters, the deadline has already passed (24:00 Saturday, Sept 10th).

11-09-2011, 07:23 PM
I missed out on this and I have the Zulu film miniatures from Empress....damm you BT for not sorting my broadband out sooner.....

Think I'm going to have to give this one a miss. I'm a supporter but I don't think i can get anything finished in 2 days.

14-09-2011, 08:18 PM
yay me ! the comp is over and I came last again, retaining my 'worst painter' position
what do you mean the voting hasn't even started? oh well, there's only three entries that matter anyhow

Captain Sprout
14-09-2011, 09:06 PM
And indeed it is up..voting created in a few moments.
