Excellent! I'm looking forward to entering this one. I love Warlord!

14-06-2011, 03:43 PM
cool and nice that we've tempted you out!

14-06-2011, 08:12 PM
Well done DL & many thanks to Warlord Games.

14-06-2011, 11:02 PM
Hmmm, tempting but lord knows the last ACW figures I painted... I didn't enjoy the experience and I know nothing of Pike and Shotte era really. Still, maybe drop some bones and get a small package of troops so I can get my arse rightly kicked as I haven't gotten punted off the intarwebs in a painting competition in three or four years.*

*Meaning I haven't entered a painting competition in 3-4 years as I really don't have the painting chops to bring home the bacon.

14-06-2011, 11:47 PM
Well there's plenty of Americans in the Bolt Action WW2 section if stuff like Band of Brothers floats your boat.

Thankfully they re-released the roman hedgehog thingy last month so I have just the thing for this, must see if that anti-paint stuff that was sprayed on the brushes has worn off now

15-06-2011, 02:21 PM
I had an idea involving a Roman testudo painted up like a disco floor with flashing lights in the shields topped with dancing Britons...

I'd best leave that one I reckon.

Is that the fore runner to the Tuxedo?

Oh well, there goes my entry then, better think of something else :o(

I think I'll dig something out for this.....I started a diorama wip on here, it's just the base that was started, and its only gotten as far as under coated, none of the warlord minis have been started for it, they're still in shiney metal stage, would it be ok to do this....

16-06-2011, 06:28 PM
I'm quite sure that's ok, as they haven't been shown online in a completed state.

The timing for entering a new competition is quite good for me as we are approaching holidays, but the models are a bit on the rough side for me. I have scanned the website, but I haven't really fallen in love. But maybe one of those sodapop ones painted all cartoony... Hm. Difficult.

16-06-2011, 06:42 PM
@ Endor, it's only the Warlord and Bolt Action minis that are eligible for the comp. The Warlord store has a fair bit of stuff from other manufacturers but it isn't included I'm afraid.

16-06-2011, 08:11 PM
Thanks Undave, didn't realize that..

16-06-2011, 08:31 PM
As a rough guide everything with the Warlord or Bolt Action logo on is fair game.

If you're stuck for stuff to do here are a few of my faves:

Not sure which one is there to provide the comfort...

Warlord are pure 28mm scale aren't they? The miniatures are pretty nice and a good price.

Just working out if I can find a gap between commissions and getting stuff ready for baby to enter the compo.

27-06-2011, 02:06 AM
I have done some of these as commission work in the past and I think I have a roman centruion or two sitting around somewhere.

sure are. Not my usual thing but I painted one up for last years comp - quite fun to paint

27-06-2011, 10:12 PM
I think alot of they newer stuff they are bringing out are a lot poorer sculpting than their first stuff. They are producing so much that I think the odd questionable sculpt is making it into the ranges.
Still one of my fav companys and good price too

I just finished a new regiment of Warlord Minis, I'd like to enter, I'm not sure how. Is there a place to post my pics?

05-07-2011, 06:01 PM
stick em in here mate

Just noticed the link to this thread on the main page is incorrect, it takes ya to the t-shirts instead

21-07-2011, 09:20 AM
1 week to go folks

22-07-2011, 04:28 AM
OK. I has one up, hopefully I will get some more done over the weekend.

22-07-2011, 11:42 AM
good man, keep em coming

23-07-2011, 02:01 PM
Jeez, this is going down to the wire as to whether I'll finish in time! I hope so, I've worked hard on it.

Do I get an extra week allowance because the 28th is my birthday?

25-07-2011, 05:44 PM
I hope people will be busy painting in the last few days, not many entries in so far!
Am I right in understanding that once I have submitted my picture I'm free to show the model elsewhere on the web?
And good luck to all of you (with the competition and perhaps managing to finish the model in time..)

25-07-2011, 05:49 PM
Am I right in understanding that once I have submitted my picture I'm free to show the model elsewhere on the web?

absolutely - fill your boots

25-07-2011, 07:34 PM
Urm, I've just gone into that link for submitting photos and I have absolutely no idea what to do next! How do I actually get my photo submitted?

25-07-2011, 07:47 PM
Above the pictures, on the right (directly above the search) there's the 'Upload Photos' button. Everything else should be clear from there on, it will automatically get into the WG 2011 gallery!

25-07-2011, 09:04 PM
Thanks Coenus, my technological ability peaked at around 1985 when I leanred how to load 'Jet Set Willy' whilst making a Pot Noodle (and fashioning the foil lid into a very poor makeshift fork).

25-07-2011, 10:13 PM
Okay, I officially give up on this one. After sweating and grinding my teeth trying to work out how to make a bleedin' montage, then trying to upload it into the Warlord Comp Gallery, being told it was the wrong format, re-formatting it, re-loading it and now finding out it hasn't gone into the Warlord Comp Gallery at all, it's gone into the Member's Gallery ... I think I'm going to swallow a bullet.

Could some kind mod-type person please, pretty please, move it into the Warlord Comp Gallery? Or at least explain to me what I did wrong to make it not go there in the first place so I can redo it again?

25-07-2011, 10:20 PM
Lulz U suXX0rz!

Putting stuff in the right gallery can be a bit of a pain to be honest. I always forget where the button is and spend ages swearing and cursing before I remember and end up feeling like a prize numpty.

25-07-2011, 10:49 PM
lol... moved. there's a drop down menu somewhere in the process (i forget exactly where) that lets you choose what gallery to move it to. :)

26-07-2011, 09:17 AM
Thank you, thank you and once again thank you. If only there was an icon for dropping to the floor and clutching pathetically at your legs whilst weeping in despair.

26-07-2011, 01:24 PM
Damn you Cubster! *shakeyfist* I was just about to start Montrose this very afternoon. Time for plan B...

It's a bit good that though... Psst KD I don't suppose you could "accidentally" move it back?

26-07-2011, 01:44 PM
Life is a race! That means if I finish my life first I win! Hah! No, wait ...

28-07-2011, 10:30 AM
Just over 8 hours left to get those entries in folks!

Supporters you have just over 80 hours left.

If you wish to become a supporter you can do so here. (http://www.wamp-forum.com/VB4/Supporter.php)

28-07-2011, 06:39 PM
Don't think I'm going to get my 1 possible entry finished. Ebaying stuff for a big summer clearout has taken over my time over the last two days :frown:

In theory...got Sat/Sun booked up though and negotiating painting time with the other half has not gone down too well now that she has finished her masters and has free time!

31-07-2011, 07:09 PM
Arghhh, two competitions in a row where I've uploaded in the last minute...
I think I need to work on some time management skills.

Big thanks to the wife who let me paint today when I should have been spending time with kids:biggrin:
