well i am and its more a spring holiday!
this time tomorrow i'll be sat looking at the mighty ben nevis eating haggis (or chips!) and spending a week bombing down mountains on the bikeand helping ,y little one find nessie

06-03-2009, 01:46 PM
Enjoy - think you might have snow on Sunday too

06-03-2009, 01:54 PM
I didn't know that Ben Nevis ate haggis.

06-03-2009, 03:32 PM
Good luck with the bike. After the bridge attack you'd think you would try and be a bit more......sedate? Oh well. Hell for leather, boys!

06-03-2009, 03:35 PM
as long as it doesnt snow on the way up! 8 hours drive normally without snow!

06-03-2009, 03:55 PM
Iíll have a word with nessie about making an appearance....have fun

Nice one!
I'm just starting planning to go up to the Cairngorms for some ice climbing.

My old man does loads of mountain biking and went to Peebles in Glentress forest last year, said it was flipping ace.

Peace and love...

im just getting into it. not got a 10k bike but its decent enough. they got a worldcup downhill on annoch more 2 miles away but to get up you need a cable car which tells you how hairy it is! maybe do that next year!

06-03-2009, 05:32 PM
Say hi to nessie for me, haven't seen her for 4 months :)

06-03-2009, 05:49 PM
Why do I feel a broken leg is in DL's future?

06-03-2009, 05:55 PM
cool, never broken a bone before. fractured jaw and cracked me head open but no broken bones

16-03-2009, 02:42 PM
ok i wont bore you but thought you might want the low down on my adventure!

8 hours drive and it rained for most of the trip but was still great, and a nice place to spend my birthday.
saw sea otter, deer, osprey, hooded crows, amongst other things and nessie of course!

did some mountain biking twice - went over the handle bars twice!
first time landed in a heavily rocked stream at about 30mph. so i had a battered arm, helmet strap burn, soaked head to toe in very cold water and 10 miles from the car but the worst bit? Grazed nipple. absolutley killed! you take the skin of yours and see how much!

second fall was on the world champs course which is easiest described as akin to riding a bike down your stairs after you have placed several large boulders on them first! only bashed my kneee in that time though!

the views from the cottage were great, ben nevis out the front window and highland calves out the back for my little one!
heres a few photos if your interested:

Very cool pics, DL! Was that strange-looking cow following you around?

16-03-2009, 03:02 PM
thanks mate. there was a herd of those cow just grazing at the side of the road (which was the narrowest windiest road i have ever seen - like a rollercoaster on tarmac - didnt get anove 25mph for 40 odd miles!!
i got out to take photos of them and she decided to come investigate 4 foot horns that close to the car isnt good! i grew up round cows but not ones with big horns. much prefer them without!
the croft we stayed on had 2 calves so that was great for my daughter - she loved them

16-03-2009, 04:57 PM
Well, I guess as Billy has his goat you now have a cow.

Looks like you had a great time.
