(All Hasslefree products are eligible. entries will be judged by Hasslefree and extra points awarded to entries showing good use of them and originality. Duels and dioramas are encouraged! All entries must be entered on a base no larger than 50mm in diameter (If you mention Wamp when you place an order at Hasslefree they will supply a deep lipped resin base 50mm for free with your order)

dioramas are encouraged, but base size is limited...
so, if I want to paint a whole squad as a dio, do I need to place them all on a 50mm base?

Darklord

hasslefree entries need to be on a 50mm base yeah so use the space wisely!!

Nameless
06-12-2010, 12:31 PM
oh my, there went my idea for a squad. wonder how they would look on a ladder though....

anyway, would something like this be accepted? base would be 50mm ;)

Hmm, my hasslefree mini is not on a 50mm base as it was one started ages ago. Can I still enter it into the "others" category?

War Griffon
06-12-2010, 12:57 PM
Roger 50mm is the max size as I read it.

RogerB
06-12-2010, 12:58 PM
But Brett just said a couple of posts up that it has to be on a 50mm base.

War Griffon

All entries must be entered on a base no larger than 50mm in diameter

therefore if you are entering a Hasslefree figure on a smaller base it will be fine, Brett was replying to Nameless who was questioning base size for a squad.

RogerB
06-12-2010, 01:02 PM
ah, okay. thanks.

Darklord
06-12-2010, 01:08 PM
Yes sorry folks I didnt clarify very well - base must be no bigger than 50mm so yes a smaller base is fine as well!

Darklord - can you go back to my question? :) check the pic I linked and tell me if it would be accepted for the contest.

Noddwyr

So does the 50mm base include 50mm square bases or just circle bases?

Dysartes
10-12-2010, 11:27 PM
I was just about to ask the same question, Noddwyr.

Noddwyr
10-12-2010, 11:27 PM
Must be that great minds think alike. I was just trying to plan my base, which has just gotten much more complex so i was wondering.

Dysartes

I think my base is somewhere over the Atlantic at the moment.

Noddwyr

Mine is just a mock up at the moment. Trying to figure out the best way to do it.

Darklord

Darklord - can you go back to my question? :) check the pic I linked and tell me if it would be accepted for the contest.

as long as the base is 50mm then you can stick what you like on it!! (thats a yes!!)

The rules states no greater than 50mm in diameter which is obviously round. Now, I dont have a problem with square bases been entered BUT bear in mind that Hasslefree required that rule and they will be judging this category so they may or may not dock points, I doubt they will but its your own choice to make.

Dysartes

So, best bet would be to email Kev or Sally to check?

Darklord

No best is you decide whether you stick rigidly to the rule or not

Ok, another one for yer Brett - Can a mini be entered into more than one category? For example, would the hero from an army entry be allowed into the general one? If so then I presume that this wouldn't count towards the number of entries for the R&Co obv, though would it also mean it was eligable for best base voting?

I'm hardly losing sleep over this lol, but it was just a thought. Ta.

Darklord
15-12-2010, 06:16 PM
thats already been asked mate! No each may only be enteredd into a single category

Orki

Ok cool ta. Guess I'll have to knock up some more HQ then. :)

Quick question with regards to the army competition...

From the rules thread:

Photographs must be no larger than 800w x 3100w pixels. If they are the software will automatically reduce your image size and make it pretty small. It is your responsibility to check this

Is this 800W x 3100H or 800H x 3100W

I.e. can i enter a panoramic shot of the army - all previous contest entries and gallery posts I have seen show standard width and large height pictures.

War Griffon
28-12-2010, 07:13 PM
800 is the max width

Anything bigger gets brutalised by the software, you will therefore need to stack the montage to a max of 3100 high

Lomar4976
28-12-2010, 07:57 PM
OK cheers. Figured as much since all the photos seem to have been uploaded in stacked portrait orientation, but thought I'd check just incase.

04-02-2011, 01:13 PM
Just a couple of questions, how and where do i post pictures for this, and how the buggery do you create a montage? is that something i need to do with my software? (if so i`m screwed:tongue:) cheers , Tom

War Griffon
04-02-2011, 01:24 PM
Tom, the montage is all done with the software, what photo editing package are you using?

It isn't that difficult to do really and I am in the process of re-writing an article using GIMP which will be posted next week and will probably end up in Portal as well...

As for where to put the photos Go Here (http://www.wamp-forum.com/photopost/showgallery.php/cat/658)and post the photos in the appropriate gallery

ralfmetal
04-02-2011, 01:32 PM
Thanks WG, its a microsoft digital photo editor 2006 .. dont really go too much in depth with it ..hit the resize button and the autofix button and shazam my total level with photo editing....sad really, i`ll have to wait till the kids can show me how to get on.

Darklord
04-02-2011, 01:55 PM
Heres an article Shane did on making a montage using Gimp. Slightly different but should be useful - GMIP is free to download if you want to use it anyway

http://www.wamp-forum.com/VB4/content.php?343-How-to-make-a-montage-for-the-WAMP-gallery-the-right-size

War Griffon
04-02-2011, 02:35 PM
Shane's article is for Photoshop but it should work with most other packages anyway.

If you want to give GIMP a try as DL says its free to download and use, PM me your e-mail and I will send you a copy of the word doc I have for GIMP which I am revamping for WAMP

Brett, would you be so kind as to delete this image of mine (http://www.wamp-forum.com/photopost/general-category/p1526-a-pirate-27s-life-for-me.html). I was unhappy with the picture quality and uploaded a better photo instead.

Now I'm painting again I thought I might as well enter something. One of the things I'm thinking of would fit perfectly into the WaMP monthly: fairy comp but it finishes a few days before the Wamped comp does. I don't suppose I could enter it into both seeing as the monthly is a just for fun thing? I can post pics in the Wamped gallery before I put it in the monthly gallery if that would help.

Also are subscribers still getting the extra week's grace on the deadline?

War Griffon
14-02-2011, 11:34 PM
Undave providing you post the photos first into the Wamped comp gallery you will be OK it then enter it into the monthly.

Maybe give it a day before then posting them into the monthly if you can.

Heh... that might be a bit optimistic as I only glued the guy together half an hour or so ago and I'm still making the base. I probably won't get it done by Wednesday in any case but if I can enter it the extra incentive can only speed it along.

Of course mate

I know this will sound like a really stoopid question, buuut one would presume that showing some of the constituent parts of an army entry would not disqualify that army entry as a whole from that catagory would it?

Just checking incase I can only photograph and enter the portion thats been kept secret. Somehow I don't think this would be in the spirit in which Exiles started the idea obv, being that it's to encourage us to re-discover the joys of army painting and make headway on all those half-started projects etc, but I can see how this could possibly fall foul of the literal wording of the Wamped rules and I don't wish to mess it up before my chances are even in. :)

Darklord
15-02-2011, 08:43 PM
No thats fine mate.
At the end of the day the rules put there to stop people filling the contests with tons of stuff they have spent years accumulating which wouldn't be fair. The contests her are pretty friendly and held in good spirit anyway

Orki
15-02-2011, 08:48 PM
Aye cool ta Brett. I guessed as much anyway, but thought it wise to check up first anyway. Cheers.

http://www.wamp-forum.com/photopost/army-challenge/p1621-black-orcs.html Somehow this pic got put in the wrong place- not sure what happened. I need this to replace the other Pirate entry in the General Category- this is a better pic than the other one.

I've had a thought. Yes, I know, an unusual occurrence. The Hasslefree mini I'm painting is an oop limited edition mini and so not available to buy. Would it still be okay in the HF category or would it go in the Other?

Darklord
22-02-2011, 09:11 PM
Hasslefree mate

RogerB
22-02-2011, 09:12 PM
Now don't go getting the idea it will be finished in time, but it's still on the cards, even if I managed to get some paint from the rocks on to the finished leg of the mini...it never ends!

Darklord

......you painted a whole leg?

RogerB

Two legs, actually. The mini itself was finished until that incident.

Would a mod be so kind as to remove the original shiny picture of my Faerie Emissary from the Wamped general gallery (the one with the garden background) as I've just submitted a better pic. The version in the monthly comp gallery should be allright to leave as I submitted the same pic twice and put one in each gallery with this in mind. Ta.

Edit: never mind, I've got rid of it.

Orki
24-02-2011, 02:20 AM
Erm, why do you lot keep asking mods to do that? I've happily deleted quite a few now without trouble...

While viewing your pic, at the top right click 'photo options', 'edit pic', and then delete is at the bottom of the page next to the "are you really sure?" type message. :)

Brett, I asked this over in the main Wamped! thread, but didn't get a response - any chance of a quick yes/no on this one?

"DL, a question if I may - I've conceded that I'm not going to finish the Dwarves for the Army Challenge. Would the Thane I finished be a valid single figure/Open entry for Wamped!?"
