Excellent stuff Brett and a job well done organising this one, many thanks to yourself and the sponsors. There should be a good diversity of entries in this one i`d say with ample time to get things finished, might be a good time to do something large scale for a change i think.

Methinks he's training for his new arrival by taking on too much work, not sleeping and doing a fab job at it all in one go! :o

I had something planned for this, but with all the 'new' stuff in the mix, I'm not too convinced that my choice is as clear cut as I once thought.
Might have to go do something more/new.. Either way, it's all experimenting :D

Big round of applause for getting this all together, and :hail: to our sponsors.

This might just have enough of a time period that I could possibly get something done from my horde of WIP's. It is ok to use something I've been working on but isn't finished, isn't it? If they've only had concept shots and a WIP or two online?

It's not going to affect me yet, DL, but any chance of getting the folder structure in place in the WAMPed! folder in the gallery, so people can start posting entries? There are people in the Kingdom Death contest, for instance, who may need to cross-post their entry to there, and right now there's only a general location to drop 'em in.

Darklord

Just a quick one to confirm that we can enter each cat more than once yeah? But can only get 1 prize placing per cat (exc BoS/BB/BC).

Oh and how will the Best of Show and Best Base be decided too? I noticed the bit about marking entries for the Conversion one but nothing about the other 2 (unless i'm being a dumbass of course).

Well I was originally hoping to use some cast versions of my asphalt bases so I could finish up my Grey Knights and enter them, but that's changed. I just need to man up and sculpt some new ones so I can finish and enter them.

I might be entering my army commissions in, we'll see.

I also hope to have my Wolfen Prowler finished and entered.

I'd be able to enter a lot more if I didn't have this pesky "job" thing

You've got Skeletor, He-Man and Battlecat that you could enter... just put them on new bases or something so that you didn't show "completed" pics in your worklog before you entered them to WAMPed.

We don't have a "honey-do list" in this house. I think she'll just be happy if the place is clean when she gets back, and I like to clean (I do "washes" all the time )... So I can't use that excuse for not painting.

Hello, just a query about the army painting challenge. I'm thinking about getting my ork boyz done for it, although I've shown 2 out of the eventual 20 models as finished. I know something similar had been asked before but I didn't feel it quite matched what I was after. This is the most WIP I've shown of the 'army' so far... (about a year ago now!)

How to enter with Warmachine to the Army Challenge if I have for example 3 Solos(3 separate models) 1 warmachine (one cannon +3 crewmembers)+ 1 Warcaster

Can I enter with different single miniatures several times?
Can I paint one model for Wamp Monthly And enter it here too?
If model is Forge World monster (still can be named as 28mm) but almost 10 inches high - is this general category or large-scale ?

I remember discussing this with exiles early on in the Army Challenge. From what I recall:

Warcaster as your HQ choice is fine
The cannon and crew (Commodore, at a guess), would be fine as a unit
The solos are a touch one - I'd e inclined to say they're not a unit, but exiles would need to make the final decision.

IMPORTANT NEWS

It has come to my attention that there has been at least one entry put into the contest that breaks the contest rules, namely it being an entry that has been shown in a completed state elsewhere.
The rules state:

All entries must be new work (new work is defined as a piece not shown in a finished state in public before. It is fine to enter a piece that has been displayed in a Work In Progress state (if your unsure ask!))

I like to think it's simply a case of entrants not reading the rules properly. Suffice to say the offending entry will be removed.
All entries will be checked against other websites as much as possible to ensure fair play.
Please if you have uploaded an entry that contradicts the rules could you please let me know so it can be removed.
As I said I'm sure its an innocent mistake, our contest are always participated in a friendly way and this will continue to do so too.

If you have any questions then please contact me

Thanks

Brett

Darklord

Just to clarify folks. If your entry is an issue you will be contacted directly and informed. The offending entry was previously shown over 6 months ago finished. You are prefectly fine to show wip shots of entries wherever you like (in fact I encourage it!) you can even show your entries finished elsewhere AFTER you have uploaded them to the Wamped gallery. :D Quality, yeah. Good quality? hmm... we'll see yet! But I think all of my entries have beens seen in WIPs' and stuff so there's no surprises for you at least. :) If you see that as the bar, then top it man! I really don't belong in this comp

Why? Rules state the only codition for an entrant is they must be a Wamp member. Are you a Wamp member? Yes , so now :stfu: get painting and enjoy it. You've as much right as anyone else to enter.

I know, I know but when I see the very high standard I feel that my stuff is just so much tat and that it's all rather silly entering against such competition. I know I only do it for fun but a lot of people don't see painting that way so I sort of open myself to getting a 'bad' rep. That doesn't bother me but I sometimes wonder if 'visitors' would consider the site as a lesser place because of it, and me.

Well, I've put on the dullcote on the mini. May have gone on a little thick in some areas or it may have been a little cold for the spray type but it's not bad. A couple of things to do like redo the final highlight on the metallics and then take some photos of it.

Wags, don't you DARE think that your painting (At what ever level you happen to do or like to do) will ever lesson the "glory" of any site you happen to be on. If anyone ever even eludes to such prat you should let everyone know.

Being good has nothing to do with this hobby. Honestly. One of the hardest things I deal with is getting new people or people who don't think their work "measures up" to enter into things. It's not about that. Or at least it shouldn't be. Honestly, if everyone had at least some of your attitude the painting world would have a lot more work posted as well as be a hell of a lot more fun.

OK, so you think your skill level doesn't hold up. So what? You enter. You enter against odds that you think state you will never win with. That's some serious guts man. I know I have trouble doing that. In fact I have taken a LOT of inspiration from you and your attitude. It doesn't matter if I don't think my piece will win. If I am happy (enough. I'm never 100% happy) with the piece it goes in. Period. Even if I think it's a waste of time. At the very worst I'll get a lot of useful feedback. At best I just might win something.

GHAAA.

Well, I might have enough time tonight and tomorrow (GMT-5 here) to get the thing in. Going to enter it into the Basing section I think. So I may JUST finish the base (Easy to do) and finish up the rider during the rest of this week.

Stupid schedule has been a pain and it turns out I'm really anemic. So I've been suffering from a nasty set of lethargy for about two months. Go figure. Starting to take iron supplements though and I'm already feeling better. Go figure...

OMG Roger I feel faint and I'm sure you painting a mini has started a cataclysmic chain reaciton thats ripping apart the very fabris of space and time!!

Just a heads up folks on the following points:

Any entry must be work new work as described in the rules - already had entries posted on cmon last year - these will get deleted

It's up to you to ensure your entries are correct - if you re upload better photos please delete the original ones yourself (go to photo click edit photo then select delete - simples). Any duplicates will be deleted by us once entries close but we can't guarantee we will delete the correct one so to be sure do this yourself!
There are also photo size limits. If you image exceeds these it will not display full size as the software shrinks them automatically. Again this is your responsibility to check this (go to the photo and click it to see if it shows full size.)

The non-supporters deadline has passed already. Only entries by supporters are permitted now. Any non-supporter entries uploaded after this time will be deleted. If you are a non-supporter and have done this or wish to still upload you may by becoming a supporter.

Finally conversions. I am unable to spend hours checking each entry to see if its been converted and if so how much. If you wish to have your entry considered for the conversion category you must state on your entry description that it has been converted and preferably tell us in what way otherwise you risk it missing that category.

It's a fun contest guys and I will correct things as much as possible but with over 120 entries and counting it's hard to spot everything. If you have an issue or are unsure on anything please pm me and I will sort it out.
Don't come crying to me after the deadline that you have a problem. I need to know before the deadline.

Err... dunno! I thought it was about 8-9 but I could be wrong? Too much painting either way mate! I've still got a quite a few more to upload yet, though if im not hppy with the pics I wont bother tbh as I'm still focussing on repairing the all important 'biggy' (biggie?) for my shot at the general/BOS. :)

I have had a few queries regarding entries so thought I would clarify a point.

If you have been painting an entry for the army challenge but that army wont be completed, you are free to upload components of that army into the other categories instead.

Orki
28-02-2011, 11:30 AM
So I could've turned 1 or 2 entries into over a hundred then?

Well, it's within the rules I spose, but a bit lame if I were to do that. If say, i'd already thought that I wouldnt have a chance with my second army (as teh first one was plenty good enough for my shot at the prize there), then my second army could be broken down into units, vehicles, characters, single figures etc just to bulk numbers up to beat Dysartes!

Man that would be so lame! How many figures you painted so far mate? lol Race yer to take photoes of each of them!!!!

.....joking. Very, very joking.

I have indeed taken up residence on the back seat for the mo while I finish my Wamped entries. Like I said in that post I wont be leaving them unfinished, as that would be just absurd obv given that the deadline is today. :)

After that I will indeed be taking some time out to re-evaluate certain things here and elsewhere while I concentrate on the real matters in life. You know, the ones that make or break you, and I don't break. Just gotta bend with it for the mo and all that. :) Rally hoo!
