So I'll be cheering on this one.

its hard (wrong word) ,differcult to paint when your hand is shaking .. that came out wrong too

breadhead.
05-05-2010, 11:55 AM
I've got a Lunah that I might try and get done for this, although she is another fiddly little cow and the base is really badly cast. After the fun I had with the Medusa I need a break form Kabuki! Guess I can always enter the Medusa though :)

Darklord
05-05-2010, 12:31 PM
less procrastinating and more painting breadhead - do you want those prizes or not? - enter both

Well I started assembling mine tonight. HOLY SMOKES!! Fiddly for sure. I am putting together the Later Macrimosa assassin looking chick. I was not sure about entering but I think I'm going to have to paint this one up. Perhaps to the exclusion of my "blue" entry, depending on how things come together on these two mini's. It's a very nice looking mini!

Mine is primed and ready to go, I just need to get the ladder challenge out of the way first otherwise I will not want to go back to that.

SilentBob
16-05-2010, 08:00 PM
Damn, I didn't realize there was just 2 weeks left!
Well she's primed and ready to go at least ...

War Griffon
16-05-2010, 08:19 PM
Well unless you are a supporter then you actually have at least 2 1/2 weeks or 3 weeks if you are a supprter.

I need to get the majority of this one and my ladder challlenge out of the way by the end of the week though due to having to go on a course.

ScottRadom
18-05-2010, 11:08 PM
I wasn't sure if I'd enter or not, but I've been working quite a bit on my entry. It's slow going, but so far I am pretty pleased. I wanted to try a couple things I am not very practiced at, painting purple and green. So it's been kinda fun!

exilesjjb
18-05-2010, 11:32 PM

I'm pretty sure I'll get the figure painted in the next week (I'll be out of town for the last few days of May, so I have an artificial deadline of the 28th), but I'm not sure about the water effects that I'm planning on adding to it. :-/

22-05-2010, 09:36 PM
its offical I am out of this one thought I might do one so started prep, long story short my crap day continued snapped off the weapon so I bagged it up and put it in the same dark place as my Mcvey mini is

pae
24-05-2010, 06:43 PM
Got the figure about 75% done and then realized that I hated it, so I'm not going to be entering this one, either. I think my days of painting for competition are over.

ScottRadom
24-05-2010, 08:14 PM
AGH! Why Pae?

I hope you reconsider, both with this mini and in future ones. I really like the way you paint and I hope to see your stuff in WAMP contests. At the very least I think you can bag some free mini's. Also I think you'd be one of the guys to "chase" in the comps and it would help myself and others who are of that mind frame push ourselves.

Won't you think of the children?

What mini are you working on? I am doing the Later Macrimosa chick and I have to say it also is driving me MENTAL! So much detail in such cramped spaces. It's a beauty fig but painting it has for sure been a challenge. I hope it looks OK when finished!

So again Pae, hope even if you take a break from this one you think about entering some of the others. Even if you pick one comp months away and pick away at the mini from now until then.

Good luck, and I hope to see more of your stuff soon. Comp or no comp amigo!

War Griffon
24-05-2010, 10:48 PM
Just got the study plan for the next two weeks...48 hours of own time study means I may not get my entry for this done in time so will have to do the figure later and miss the comp.

Darklord
25-05-2010, 09:54 AM
Im wondering whether we should extend the deadline on this contest

Ulfgrimr
25-05-2010, 11:25 AM
Sounds like a plan Brett. In an ambitious moment I ordered 2 of them and am struggling to get them done. An extension would certainly help me out and would hopefully get more entries which would be good for this comp, other competitors (see Scott's post above) and hopefully for the sponsors.

Darklord
26-05-2010, 11:11 AM
The Deadline has been extended by 2 weeks - your new deadline is 14th June 2010 (this deadline applies both supporters and non supporters

Darklord
30-05-2010, 10:32 AM
btw folks images must be less than 800 pixels wide by 2500 pixels high. Anything bigger than this and it will get resized and the picture will shrink. (this is standard size for all images on wamp not just this contest. Sorry I should have made that clearer in the rules

ScottRadom
30-05-2010, 02:28 PM
Oops! I better go chop mine up!

Ulfgrimr
31-05-2010, 03:18 PM
Finally finished my Mater Lacrimosa entry (by the original deadline - I don't know how you commission painters cope with deadlines) and popped it into the gallery.

@ Brett - I have another one started, would it be okay to enter it if I can finish it before the new deadline?

Darklord
31-05-2010, 03:31 PM
sure mate you can enter as many times as you like (one of the contest last year someone entered 6 times) note that you may only win one prize though

SilentBob

Just need to wait for the resin to dry, and then take pics of it. Should be up in the next few days.

Hopefully finish mine off this weekend as exams finish on Friday and next part of course doesn't start until Monday, managed quite a bit over the weekend just need to finish off the nmm etc and do a tidy up of the whole thing and a bit of base work.

Still not happy with the overall figure and its finish though, or the way it is progressing. Starting to hate this figure...

waghorn41
08-06-2010, 09:04 PM
OK mines in, best of 30 or so photos I took. Tried a few variations on technique and made a few mistakes so had to tidy up quite often. Not as good as I'd have liked but I think I've raised my standard a little with this one at least. Lunah is a beautiful sculpt though mine had a nasty cast line on the right side of the face which I don't have the skill, or confidence to even try, to remove.

My apologies but I stated the judging incorrectly in the rules. Judging for this contest will actually be carried out by Banshee, the painter responsible for many of Kabukis studio paintjobs.
