The summer may be gone but these contests just get hotter, time to announce number 8 of the year.
Its the turn of Armorcast , a company that has tons to offer, not just miniatures but terrain and scenery too so a great chance to try something different

firstly lets get the rules out the way:

You must be a Wamp Member to participate although membership is free.

You may enter as many times as you like but each entry may only submit one photograph so if you need more angles it MUST be a montage
any additional photographs of that entry will be removed

Each entrant is only eligible for one prize. In the event of an entrant winning more than one prize they will receive the prize of highest value - any subsequent prizes will be awarded to the next highest placed entrant.

All entries must be new work within the last 3 months and previously unpublished in other contests

You give Wamp and Armorcast permission to use your pictures for publicity (but you do retain owenrship)

You may post pictures of WIP or final shots both here and elsewhere

Judging will be carried out by a special guest judge:
He is a man that is synonymous with armorcast , creator of many of its products, so who better to judge than mr Shawn lux or Shawn RL as he is also known

The deadline for submission is 16th November 2009 6pm GMT

IF you are a wamp supporter then you benefit from an extended dealine which will be 72 hours later at 6pm 19th November GMT (for details on becoming a wamp sponsor please visits the announcements section)

Submissions must be posted to the Armorcast contest album

All entries must feature Armorcast miniatures only. You may use accesories and bases from other companies as long as the piece is inherently Armorcast

You may enter a single miniature, diorama full 300 piece battle scene - whatever you like as long as its Armorcast.

All entries must use an Armorcast miniature that was available to buy from their store within the last 12 months

Armorcast carry many ranges. All are allowed EXCEPT Hasslefree and Spinespur. if in doubt ask

Any problems or questions then feel free to ask here or pm me

Now the good bit, the prizes:

1st place - $50 credit for armorcast.com
2nd place - $25 credit
3rd place - $10 credit

I'd really like to take part in this event but last week it was confirmed:
I'm back to univ since October so I doubt I'll have enough time to prepare the entry :(

10-10-2009, 08:04 PM
So which are their 'own' ranges on the site?

11-10-2009, 01:06 AM
any except hasslefree or spinespur

11-10-2009, 02:33 AM
I'm painting up some hostages! Those mini's are okay, right? I think they're "tactical mini's" stuff?

11-10-2009, 09:10 AM
as long as its not spinespur or hasslefree its fine

11-10-2009, 04:59 PM
I finally figured it out. Problem being I ordered them direct from Hasslefree, so I though I was SOL, but I went back there and it clearly states they're Armorcast figs. Sweet. So it's defo hostages for me.

27-10-2009, 05:12 PM
got my armorcast stuff from hasslefree this morning along with some brass etched ivy leaves - theyre bloody tiny!!) i got a halloween lolly thrown in too!
looking forward to doing this - no minis on mine so hopefully different

07-11-2009, 04:45 PM

07-11-2009, 06:22 PM

08-11-2009, 04:42 PM
Yes, but I'm used to it

09-11-2009, 10:33 PM
Mine is coming along nicely and could be my best project to date! Started it Friday night and couldn't put it down.

10-11-2009, 08:30 AM

12-11-2009, 07:05 PM

12-11-2009, 07:49 PM
Welcome back to the dark side DL!!!

12-11-2009, 08:16 PM
oh yes!!

12-11-2009, 08:33 PM
Thats what you'll say when you see mine... I'm loving it so much, I may not be able to give it to my mate for his birthday... I went out and got some friscuit last night to finish the main arirbrushing part. By god I hope I dont choke... Never use friscuits before. Should be done tonight!

12-11-2009, 09:13 PM
you cant use airbrushing in these contests. do you people never read the rules?

12-11-2009, 09:20 PM
Oh thats right, its "cheating"

Don't be mad cuz you aren't going to win :P hahahaaa

12-11-2009, 09:27 PM
er no - its a sponsor stipulation mate - check the rules.
Is it just basecoated with it or mostly airbrushed?

12-11-2009, 09:36 PM
You jerk!
You just made me read the rules for no reason. There isn't a "no airbrush rule"

I'm using my airbrush and you'll like it! Final answer.

12-11-2009, 09:37 PM
erm there is mate.
seriously how much did you uise it/ if its just basecoating it shouldnt be a problem

12-11-2009, 09:38 PM
where is this rule? I don't see it anywhere

12-11-2009, 09:40 PM
All entries must be new work within the last 3 months and previously unpublished in other contests

No Airbrushed entries are permitted in this contest

You give Wamp and Armorcast permission to use your pictures for publicity (but you do retain owenrship)

12-11-2009, 09:41 PM
lol, now I know your lying!

12-11-2009, 09:42 PM
get someone else to check it - its there mate (i have just bolded so you could read it though)

12-11-2009, 09:44 PM
your mind control has no power here lord of the dark.

12-11-2009, 09:45 PM
can you seriously not se it?

12-11-2009, 09:49 PM
It's on the first post of the thread. Are rules posted somewhere else that Pete might be checking instead?

12-11-2009, 09:58 PM
haha. You guys are funny. I'm not that much of a burnout!

13-11-2009, 05:04 PM
yeah thats right, change them rules back... Nice try though DL, you had me paniced for a couple minutes.

I have a little more work to do tonight and then I peel it all off and see what it looks like, It'll be the moment of truth!

13-11-2009, 05:43 PM
I think the only person it really fooled was me! By the time I had commented I was really feeling bad for you NeatPete since it sounded like you had done a ton of work on this by that point and I was certain you were delusional and somehow missing that rule!

Yup, there's a stick in me...cause I'm the big sucker here.

13-11-2009, 06:28 PM
lol. Gotta keep on your toes around this DL guy.... He's sneeky!

Thanks for the concern though, I honestly would have been totally bummed if it was true.

13-11-2009, 07:54 PM
I cant believe you genuienly couldnt see it!!.

I took it out just for you pete - hope you grab second place mate (cos you aint winning!!)

13-11-2009, 08:22 PM
lol, prob not. You are a winning heffer thats for sure.
If nothing else I'll get to finish something for a friend, and get some experience working on a style fo something I wont to do more of in the future. (It would be nice to win though:)

We'll have to see what Shawn fancies....

13-11-2009, 09:09 PM
well If I managed to sit down to work on mine tonight - got 30mins done - buggered it up so have to redo then more contest stuff to sort - hopefully tomorrow I can get a few hours on it before the rugby and footie

14-11-2009, 06:38 PM
Okay I'm sleepy and blind now and my contest entry is staring at me... Wait did I just type that last part? Probably should have just kept that to myself...

Anyway, where do we post the entries? (I'm sure its there, I just can't see it)

Thanks :)

14-11-2009, 08:23 PM
albums / wampspecial / armorcast

15-11-2009, 01:34 AM
I can see the albums / wampspecial but there is no Armorcast album. Does it need to be created?

15-11-2009, 09:49 AM
apologies - I forgot to create it!
its up now

15-11-2009, 09:53 AM
sorry... never checked for it. my bad

15-11-2009, 07:43 PM
Cool. I thought I was going crazy(er) than normal or maybe I had been spending too much time painting. Well you can never spend too much time painting.

Thanks! I'll post my entry later today.

16-11-2009, 10:34 AM
na just me been slack!!

16-11-2009, 10:49 AM

16-11-2009, 05:14 PM
(unless your a wamp supporter in which case yuo have around 80 hours)

Best five bucks I've ever spent!

16-11-2009, 05:59 PM
Haa haa haa -- I support wamp with my heart not my wallet. It means more. :)

16-11-2009, 07:13 PM

(though all wamp supporters have 72 hours remaining)

17-11-2009, 06:11 PM
hoping to get mine finished tonight and photos tomorrow - lot of basing to get done first though planning on using some of the goodies from the static grass exchange

17-11-2009, 07:41 PM
I've got a few finishing touches on mine left to do tonight as well. Got the water effects laid down last night, almost forgot about that. Everything else looking good. Lets hope the water drip set okay, we'll see when I get home....

Looking about like I thought I would. Some lessons learned and things to do differently next time but thats what learning is all about right?

17-11-2009, 07:58 PM
sure is - just onto the foliage for me now

17-11-2009, 09:30 PM
Shall possibly be passing on this one - neither the base nor the figure is working out, I might manage to enter the base (to make up the numbers), but working some longish hours this week

17-11-2009, 10:41 PM
mines finished - photos tomorrow for me.

Doesnt look ike we will have many entries (3 or 4??) may be a case of we have to reduce the prize level . Hopefully not - well see what happens

17-11-2009, 10:53 PM
Hopefully not. Just tell him I'll spend all my credit at his shop and no one elses. :D

I simply don't have anything else of armorcast to paint other than a few bases. I have a bunch of them painted up waiting for zombies. I'll picture them up and enter them in as well. Enter what you got Vern!!! Take one for the team, lol.

18-11-2009, 12:02 AM
Ok, just for you Pete, I've entered my (unfinished) dock :blink

18-11-2009, 01:58 AM
Hey Vern,

Your invisible stalker on the dock looks great! ;)

18-11-2009, 07:53 AM

18-11-2009, 04:57 PM
Sweet entries DL and maxstyles417. Good looking stuff.
Great feathers on yours Max and DL yours looks sweet! Totally looks overgrown and old!

Good luck everyone!

18-11-2009, 05:40 PM
cheers Pete gonna try and re-take pics if I can in time on a blue background

18-11-2009, 06:02 PM
Good looking work by you all in here.

18-11-2009, 07:08 PM

18-11-2009, 08:23 PM
So when do we hear? lol,

Sorry but I gotta get my chips in while the cards are lucky!

18-11-2009, 08:34 PM
when Shawn tells me

18-11-2009, 08:58 PM
... er, should the deadline not be 6pm tomorrow? (although I'm sure there is no more entries t come)

18-11-2009, 09:09 PM
aw shoot - yeah - you can tell my mind is elsewhere!

18-11-2009, 09:59 PM
I like your entry Darklord, where did you get all the leaves for the base? Are they those brass etch ones or something else? I also like the green washes you put in the inside corners, looks like the startings of moss or mold and really gives it that overgrown, damp forest feel.

19-11-2009, 10:03 AM
cheers Nathan. The ivy leaves are brass etch ones. The autumn leaves scattered about are from antecelotis workshop (theres a link somewhere if you need it in manufacturere link). The photos have killed some of the colour on the masonry - mainly the purple. I may get a chance to re-take them today with a blue background

19-11-2009, 08:12 PM
DEADLINE HAS PASSED (and I mean it this time!!)

19-11-2009, 08:32 PM
So when do we hear? j/k :P

19-11-2009, 08:36 PM
:calm: :sigh :wall :moon: :computer: :thud :s**t :freaked :asshole :lipsealed :slaps :Blah :obsessed  :uhh: :banana

19-11-2009, 08:46 PM
lol, couldn't help it mate. Cheers!

19-11-2009, 08:47 PM
Although I'm not really sure I want to hear as I think you got this one in the bag.

19-11-2009, 08:56 PM
No to be honest I think yours is better than mine as is the one with an actual mini on it (i forgot the name! sorry maxstyles) If i had decent photos of it then maybe I would fare better but I havent. Anyway I prefer other people to win than me (usually!!)

19-11-2009, 09:28 PM
yeah, it's tough to say...
Max has a great painted mini and maybe thats what Shawn is looking for.
DL: I think you perfectly represented his product and most likely will win for that.
Me: UI just used one of his accesories in a scene. Although I notice a lot of his stuff has graffiti on it in his shop so I may get bonus points for that!

We shall have to wait and see. Guest judges add some suspense and uncertainty.

20-11-2009, 07:25 AM
your graffiti is very nice - very crisp and clean. I maybe would have dirtied one bit of it up a little so both main bits didnt look brand new but its a slight niggle

Captain Sprout
20-11-2009, 07:21 PM
Really cool entries in my view, I think it will be hard to choose between them..they all show the products used off well.

23-11-2009, 12:14 AM
I like them all too. Hey pete did you do that graffiti with an airbrush? If so, care to give any tips?

23-11-2009, 12:51 AM
@ DL, yeah I agree, I thought about dirty'n up the 303 on the dumpster but chikened out as I liked the way it came out, but yeah, I see what your saying.

@Max: First time I ever did it so take that in mind.
303-masked dumpster with tape except bottom right hand side of front. primed it white, airbrushed yellow, then pulled a red on the bottom. then I black lined the lettering in and filled in the background with black.
Rubar: I used a friskut. clear sheet you can draw on and pull layers up and replace for different colors etc. blocked the diamond, primed white. put friskit on. cut all the lines of image on friskut. Peeled off all the blue areas and sprayed them trying to imply 3d shading. Cover up all the blue area with previously removed sections. Pull up the red area sections, spray red, pull it all off and blacklined the background.

23-11-2009, 02:20 PM
I used a friskut

What's that? I tried google but got some weird results.

23-11-2009, 03:34 PM
Sorry, it might help if I could spell.

This says it all:

Cool link thanks..I've never had an airbrush though I borrowed one and used it badly when I went through a 1/35 British Armour phase. Interesting!
